James Moser of Cairn Applications gave a presentation to the Merrimack Valley Chapter of SCORE ( the Senior Corps of Retired Executives) this morning entitled Internet Marketing 101.

The Cafe Indigo Project is live in production!  This was an awesome project.  It features a beautiful design, an Ecommerce integration through goEmerchant.com, and a  Google maps integration!

The project includes a number of myCairnApps tools including mySiteSearch, myBlog, and myContacts with the new mailing list feature that integrates to myBlog.

The NH Web Developer just built a cool piece of functionality for the myCairnApps platform. 

In response to customer requests, we built a simple Ajax component that collects email addresses for the client mailing lists.  That happened a couple clients ago.  Today, however, we put into production a tool that integrates  that email list with the myBlog tool on the myCairnApps platform   Now clients can push an email to their subscribers every time they publish a new blog entry.

This is a completely self service system that users self subscribe and unsubscribe to on their own.

The New Hampshire Web Developer is pleased to announce that Henry's Collision Center, a Manchester, NH based Body Shop has hired Cairn Applications, LLC to develop a new web site for their auto body repair business. 

Henry's, an ICAR Gold certified shop, has been doing high quality auto body repair in the Manchester area since 1927, making them one of the oldest an most experienced shops in the area.

The site will be built to the W3C's HTML 5 specification that features semantically rich structure.  It will incorporate a number of the myCairnApps tools including myBlog, mySurvey, mySiteSearch, myGallary and others.

We are thrilled to have this opportunity and look forward to serving Henry's in the years to come.

Cairn Applications has been hired by Event Nexus to build a new web site! 

Event Nexus is in the business of producing and coordinating large corporate events.  The firm is heavily involved in planning and production and will use the site for marketing purposes and as a component of their work flow. 

The new site will feature a non flash Audio Visual splash intro, and a variety of myCairnApps tools including, myBlog, myPhoto, and myContact. 

The site will also include a secure client login area, a user control interface and client customized landing page.  Another exciting feature includes a Dropbox integration that will enable the firm  to securely share files with their clients.

The New Hampshire Web Developer just built a cool interactive Training Zone Heart Rate Calculator for our client, Good Health is a Habit.  Good Health is a Habit provides health and fitness services in Concord, New Hampshire.

This new online tool calculates target training zone heart rates based on age and resting heart rate.  By creating on online tool, Good Health is a Habit hopes to provide an additional reason for customers to engage with and linger on their web site .

It was pretty easy to integrate directly into the web site and customize for consistency.  You can chose from text ads only, or rich ads or a combinitaion.  Obviously the rich ads stand are more likely to clash graphically with the site. 

The text only ads integrate better site which might make them more likely to recieve clicks from visitors.  We'll see in the months ahead.

You may be aware that most browsers cache certain files such as images, javascript files, style sheets, etc.  They do this in order to increase performance by decreasing load times. Files that already exist in your cache, do not have to be transmitted over the Internet to your browser. 

There are a number of factors that determine whether a cached file is acceptable for use.  These factors include the age if the file in cache, and the size of the cache ( the amount of space you have allocated on your file system for browser caching ). 

Occasionally your browser will use an existing file from cache when a newer version is available on the server.  This is especially irksome when working with a web developer who makes frequent changes on your web site.  I frequently make a change to a site and have the client say something like "nothing changed!"

Fortunately most browsers employ a short-cut to dump cache and force the browser to reload all the files.  For most browsers, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari, the short cut is <ctrl> + <del> to dump cache followed by <ctrl>+r to reload the page with all new files.
